one in the same

Wlife and death may be one in the same my dear.
the end of a beginning, the beginning of an end.
it starts and stops here, like traffic lights on a lonely street.
abandoned by the speeding cars,
going too fast to feel a heartbeat or see an eye blink.
we drive through life, doors and hearts locked inside shiny metal boxes.
bullet proof and sound proof,
fear compelling us faster and faster until everything becomes a blur.
a fuzzy view of everyone and everything we pass.
until one day, we crash.
thrown into someone else's soul.
hearts bent and battered, eyes wide open.
with shaking hands we embrace one another.
and only then do the doors to our lives open,
allowing tragedy to become the one thing that saves us
