For the 2008 edition
of the River Review, the art staff chose to follow
the same themes and patterns identified by our monthly literary contests.
We looked for and
organized selected pieces that reflect brevity, love
and emotions, and a swift or sudden change. I was honored to head such
a good staff: junior
Victoria Addison, photographer and music editor, and
sophomore Jasmine Mason as my assistant. I also want to recognize all
of the hard work
that was created not only by all the artists presented
in River Review 2008, but also by those not represented. GPS art students
are so talented,
and it was an honor for me to be a part of the difficult
task of selecting a few to feature. Please enjoy the slide shows while
appreciating both
the sights and sounds GPS artists have produced.

Brevity
Lets be brief and concise here. The beauty of brevity is
shown in many different elements. Speech, art, and nature
often create the most impact when simple and
concise. The AP Art students at GPS have this art mastered.

Passion
Passion is an emotion with meanings that go beyond the
word love. Passion is an extream that can mean distress,
sorrow, tranquillity, a love, and even contentness. Look
for that passion that each student has put into their
work.

Change
For some, change is a scary thing. However, we all know
that change is inevitable, except perhaps from a vending
machine. To match our short story entries, a slide show
of AP Art that portrays a shift can be viewed.
